Alicia Hubbell Fernandez
MIDWIFE/ PARTERA
Alicia Hubbell Fernandez (she/her) is a licensed home birth Midwife who has been serving pregnant and birthing women & people in various roles since 2011. Her path to becoming a birth worker began when she was 16 years old. Between always being drawn to pregnant people and babies and assisting with a dear friend’s home birth in 2002 on the island of Kauai she discovered her calling. In 2011 she began her formal studies at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery. Concurrently, she trained as an apprentice with multiple Midwives in the San Diego area as well as developing her own practice as a doula. In order to gain as well balanced education as possible, she’s assisted home birth Midwives, hospital births, as well as working in a birth center. Her practice is informed by the belief when birthing people trust themselves, honor their instincts, and educate themselves about the process they can invariably make their births more natural, safer, and more beautiful as their bodies do what they were meant to do.
Alicia is licensed through the Medical Board of California as a Licensed Midwife and is certified by the North American Registry of Midwives as a Certified Professional Midwife. She is a board member for the California Association of Licensed Midwives and is very active in her community, as well as strives to make a difference for midwives in the state of California and to be a resource for her community. Alicia is a preceptor for multiple midwifery schools, mentors both students and new midwives and hosts regular skills trainings, her main focus is to uplift and center BIPOC folks in the Inland Empire and Southern California.

Promised Midwives/Apprentices
La Rosa Midwifery is fortunate enough to work with some amazing promised midwives in the practice. Each apprentice/promised midwife is a dedicated and passionate birth worker that brings knowledge and experience with them. These apprentices are an integral part of the La Rosa Midwifery practice and join me to all consultations, appointments and births as my assistants.

Our Vision & Philosophy
“Working with the birth process helps me connect to something bigger than myself, a current of wisdom and knowledge that flows from our great-great grandmothers to our great-great grandchildren. Midwifery, as a practice, plugs us into an older knowledge and to the rhythms of our own bodies. I’ve always known I wanted to be around birth and babies; in doing so I feel as though I’ve become part of the sisterhood of women. There’s a sense of euphoria I experience around birth, a feeling like I have tapped into the roots of the earth and at the same time reached into the miracles of heaven. I believe it is an honor to bear witness to the making of a family; that moment where a couple, a supportive group of adults becomes a family with the birth of their baby.” -Alicia Hubbell, LM CPM

I am once again taking clients for prenatal, birth and well-woman/person care in Hemet, Murrieta and the surrounding areas, in a limited capacity to allow for the precious bonding time with my baby.
